WHITE CHEMICAL
CO-600 is a chemically stable, non-drying liquid that does
not form a residue when volatized or thermally decomposed at sufficiently
high temperatures. It is colorless, resistant to oxidation, hydrophobic,
and impermeable to water vapor and gases.
CO-600 is non-toxic, non-hazardous and biodegradable in conventional
treatment and disposal systems. CO-600 is approved for use in
direct food additive applications as outlined in U.S. Food and
Drug Administration 21 CFR Section 177.1430. Sheen or rainbows
will not form on water, since the aromatics and aliphatic have
been removed. CO-600 is not soluble in fresh or salt water, thereby
giving protection to cables for a longer period than ordinary
greases.
At moderate temperatures CO-600 offers considerable intrinsic
resistance to air oxidation. The isolated double bonds in polybutenes
make it less prone to the oxidation reactions that occur with
highly unsaturated drying oils. Therefore, polybutenes are more
resistant to physical or chemical change caused by aging. Due
to the stability of CO-600 it is advantageous to use where high
quality sealants, electrical insulating fluids and lubricants
are required.
